Taste the Wines of Colares
The region of Colares, one of Portugal’s oldest wine regions, is known for the deep sandy soils that protected its vineyards from phylloxera and for distinctive varieties such as Ramisco and Malvasia de Colares.
While these sandy soils are an important part of Colares’ wider identity, Quinta Vale da Roca has its own distinct geological character. Here, the vines grow in non-humic lithosols of granite and syenite with a fine clay-sandy texture, shaped by the cooling influence of the Atlantic. The estate uses Malvasia, Encruzado, and Pinot Noir to produce the wines poured during a guided tasting. This experience guides guests from the vineyard to the cellar, explaining how this unique coastal terroir translates into wines that are fresh, salty, and, above all, elegant.

Getting to Our Vineyard
Quinta Vale da Roca is located at Rua Casal Farripas 8, 2705-001 Azóia, Colares, Portugal.
The estate is approximately 20–30 minutes from Sintra center, 30–45 minutes from Lisbon, and only a few minutes from Cabo da Roca.
Free parking is available on site.

Do I need to book a wine tasting in advance at the Quinta?
Yes. Wine tastings and picnics should be booked at least one day in advance so that the team can prepare the experience and accommodate your preferred date.
How long does each wine tasting tour last?
The Terroir Tour lasts 1 hour, the Discovery Tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the Hike and Wine experience lasts 2 hours.
Which wines will I taste during the tour?
This depends on the experience you choose. Tours include three or five Quinta Vale da Roca wines, with the Discovery Tour and Hike and Wine including wines from the Premium range.
Is the wine tasting suitable for large groups or private events?
Yes. The team can adapt wine tastings and picnics for group visits, corporate experiences, or any other private event. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Is there a minimum number of participants required to book a tour?
Yes. Tours require a minimum of two participants. To help us create a more personal experience, please contact our team directly when making your booking.
How do I get to Quinta Vale da Roca from Sintra or Lisbon?
From Sintra: Follow the N247 west towards Colares and Cabo da Roca. Continue to Azóia, then follow the signs to Rua Casal Farripas. The drive takes approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic.
From Lisbon: Take the A5 towards Cascais or the A16 towards Sintra and Cascais. Then follow the N247 towards Cabo da Roca and continue to Azóia. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes.

What happens if it rains – is the tasting indoors or outdoors?
If adverse weather conditions or exceptional circumstances prevent the experience from taking place, our team may propose rescheduling or an alternative solution.
Can children join the wine tasting tour?
Yes. Children are welcome to join the tour. However, they cannot participate in the wine tasting.
Is food included with the tasting?
Yes. Depending on the experience, pairings include bread, olives, regional cheeses and charcuterie. Please let us know about allergies or dietary restrictions when booking.
What should I wear for a guided tour experience?
The Terroir Tour and Discovery Tour include a guided visit to the vineyard and winery. Hike and Wine includes a longer panoramic walk, so comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor conditions are recommended.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel more than 30 days before your experience for a full refund. Cancellations made between 30 and 7 days beforehand receive a 50% refund, while cancellations within 7 days of the experience are non-refundable.
What if I need to reschedule my experience?
You can request a date change, subject to availability at the time of your request.
